Tilkynning frá almannavarnadeild ríkislögreglustjóra og lögreglustjóranum á Norðurlandi eystra:
- Áfram hættustig Veðurstofu Íslands vegna snjóflóðahættu og rýming á húsum á Siglufirði
- Áfram óvissustig vegna snjóflóðahættu á Norðurlandi
- Helstu leiðir Norðanlands ófærar
Mikið hefur bætt á snjó víða á Norðurlandi síðasta sólarhringinn. Mörg snjóflóð hafa fallið síðan á mánudag, þar af nokkur stór. Ekki hefur verið tilkynnt um snjóflóð frá því að síðustu flóð féllu á Öxnadalsheiði í gærkvöldi, en ekki er hægt að útiloka að fleiri flóð hafi fallið þar sem vegir eru lokaðir og fáir á ferli. Spáð er áframhaldandi norðan hvassviðri með éljum og snjókomu, a.m.k. fram á sunnudag og áfram búist við mikilli snjóflóðahættu.
Næsti stöðufundur vegna rýmingar á Siglufirði verður á morgun, sunnudag klukkan 16.

Announcement from the Department of Civil Protection and Emergency Management and the Police Commissioner of North-East Iceland:
- Continued alert phase by the Icelandic Met Office, due to the risk of avalanches and the evacuation of houses in Siglufjörður
- Continued uncertainty phase due to the risk of avalanches in North Iceland
Snow has greatly increased in many places in North-Iceland in the last 24 hours. Many avalanches have fallen since Monday, some of them big. No avalanches have been reported since the last ones fell in Öxnadalsheiði last night, but the possibility of more having fallen cannot be excluded as roads are closed and very few people are around. The forecast is for continued high winds from the north as well as snow showers and snowing, at least into Sunday and a great risk of avalanches continues to be expected. The next status meeting regarding evacuation in Siglufjörður will be held tomorrow, Sunday, at 4 PM.
Transportation:
Main routes in North-Iceland are impassable, but the possibility of clearing the roads will be checked tomorrow.

The Department of Civil Protection and Emergency Management, the police in north-east Iceland, the Icelandic Met Office and the Fjallabyggð municipality, as well as the Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration, will continue to closely monitor developments and the state of affairs.
